Reunion
She spoke,
And said a great many things,
All true.
And I was filled with remorse
and longing for worlds that once were.
Then she listened,
And I stood silent, not knowing what to say,
Except lies.
And her smile faded
and she realized nothing had changed.
Then, in a moment she was gone once more.
Her words, her joy, her understanding.
All was lost.
With tears in eyes,
and regret in my heart,
I wondered—
“if I were dead, could we then speak again?
Would she forgive me, again?
Could we touch each other one last time,
across the firmament,
and find love once more?”
It seems worth the risk.
